The 2022 World Cup in Qatar finally started, with the hosts, Qatar facing Ecuador from South America. The tense match brought a South American victory!
Football fans across the World were tuning in to watch the first match of the World Cup, however most not because of the quality of the teams, but rather because this was the first match of the tournament.
The match started with clear Ecuadorian domination and the South Americans managed to open the scoring early on, only for it to be disallowed for offside. This was the first time semi-automatic offside checking was used in a World Cup and it proved to work just fine.
Ecuador however got awarded a penalty and Enner Valencia converted it in the 16th minute. Fenerbache’s Striker added another one in the first half to seal the deal, however he was taken off injured in the 77th minute.
Tomorrow we have Netherlands vs Senegal, in the same group.
