The round started with a pair of draws, as Rayo got a point in a 2-2 versus Girona, while Real Betis and Athletic cancelled each other out in a 0-0. 4th placed Atletico Madrid restarted their La Liga campaign with a win, as they downed Elche, 2-0. Sevilla’s woes continue, as they only managed a draw against Celta Vigo. Despite not playing their best football, Real Madrid eventually managed to beat Valladolid 2-0, thanks to a Karim Benzema brace. Leaders Barcelona were not so lucky, as they only managed a draw against city rivals, Espanyol, with both teams getting a red from ref, Lahoz. Note, Barca will play Atletico next and they will most likely be facing the Madrid based side without Lewa and Alba. In the last 2 matches of the round, La Real beat Osasuna to maintain their 3rd spot on the table, while Villareal beat rivals Valencia, 2-0.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are level on points, with the Catalans being first due to goal difference. Note, head-to-head will be the decider as soon as both matches are played between the two. Real Sociedad are 3rd, with 9 points behind, two more than Atletico Madrid. The strong trio of Athletic, Real Betis and Villareal are next.

At the bottom of the table we find Elche, with only 4 points from 15 matches. Sevilla are still relegation candidates, sitting on 18th, same amount of points as 19th Cadiz. Celta and Espanyol are both on 12.
