Celta Vigo opened the round with a much needed away win at Elche. Valencia are still struggling, proven by the fact that they lost to Cadiz, at home. Same goes for Real Madrid, who have lost their second league match of the season, beaten by Setien’s Villareal, 2-1. Barcelona managed to make the best out of the situation, as they beat Atletico Madrid, in the derby of the round. Other frontrunners, Real Sociedad and Real betis, both won their matches. Rayo versus Betis was an especially interesting mach. The other Seville based team, Sevilla, also managed to get their third win of the season.

Thanks to Real stumbling, Barcelona are now 3 points at the top and looking very good, having conceded only 6 goals in 16 matches, the least amount in the top 5 leagues. Real Sociedad and Real Betis complete the top 4, as Atletico falls to 5th, same amount of points as Villareal. Athletic Blilbao fall to 7th. Elche are last with no wins to their name and looking hopeless. Espanyol are 19th with 14 points, one less than Sevilla and Cadiz.
