Champions League Round of 16 draw

The draw for the first Knockout Round of the Champions League took place today and here are the results.

The highlight of the draw is PSG versus Bayern Munchen. The Germans won all 6 of their games in the “Group of Death“, only to be drawn against PSG. It will be a huge test for both Galtier, who is still unbeaten with the Parisians and Julian Nagelsmann who has recently found form with the Bavarians.

The second most interesting fixture is Liverpool versus Real Madrid, who are facing each other in the UCL for the 3rd time in just as many seasons. Real Madrid won the previous encounters, so Klopp and his boys from the PL will have all to prove.

While the Conte has historically struggled in the Champions League, A.C. Milan versus Tottenham will also be an interesting return to Italy, to the former Juventus and Inter Manager. Pioli versus Conte, a true battle of some of the best Italian managers the game has to offer.

Dortmund versus Chelsea also looks to be a contested fixture, with Dortmund gaining form, while Chelsea struggling recently. Things might change after the World Cup though.

The other matches are:

  • RB Leipzig vs Man City – City are clear favorites
  • Brugge vs Benfica – Benfica are clear favorites, being unbeaten in the league and Europe
  • Eintracht vs Napoli – Napoli are clear favorites
  • Inter vs Porto – Inter favorites, but Porto always performs in Europe
