Leeds and Bournemouth started the round with a 7 goal thriller and Jesse Marsch’s side came out as the victors at the end. Despire Cancelo getting an early red card, Man City did manage to beat Fulham, to continue their pursuit of Arsenal. Leicester continued their good run of form, as they beat Everton. The much anticipated West London Derby ended with an Arsenal win over Chelsea. Man Utd lost to Aston Villa, Newcastle beat Southampton, while Conte’s Tottenham lost to Liverpool.


Standings

Arsenal are first after 13 games played, with 2 points above City and a further 5, plus a game in hand compared to Newcastle. With only 3 points from the last 4 games, Spurs are now 4th, within striking distance for Man Utd. Chelsea and Liverpool are 7th and 8th, looking to improve their standings after the World Cup. Spurs did manage to grab a point this weekend, however they are still 20th, same amount of points as Wolves, who have appointed Lopetegui as manager.

Girona opened the round in La Liga, beating Athletic 2-1. Barcelona beat Almeria, in Pique last match for the Blaugrana. Atletico Madrid with another bad result, as they drew versus Espanyol, at home. Real Sociedad and Valencia shared the points and so did Betis and Sevilla in the Sevilla derby, both matches finishing 1-1. Real Madrid to face Rayo on Monday.


Standings

Barcelona are first, at least temporarily, as Real Madrid are yet to play their game this round. Atletico are 3rd, with a wicked 10 points behind Barcelona. Betis complete the top 4, with Osasuna 5th, same amount of points as Sociedad. Elche are last and they are looking lost. Cadiz, Celta and Sevilla are all on 11 points, from 17th to 19th.

Gladbach opened the round in style, by beating Stuttgard, 3-1. RB Leipzig finally managed to string two victories together, as they beat Hoffenheim, to bring some of that UCL juice to the Bundesliga. On the other hand, Dortmund are on their 3rd consecutive win, consolidating their place in the top 4. Despite conceding 2, Bayern beat Hertha, to regain the first spot, as Union Berlin got destroyed by Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen.


Standings

Things are back to normal, Bayern are first again. They are followed by Freiburg, who are having an amazing season and Union Berlin dropped to 3rd, with losing 2 out of their last 3 games. Dortmund are still 4th, but they have been looking good recently and same goes for 6th placed Leipzig. Leverkusen are finally out of the relegation zone, unlike Schalke 04 and Bochum who look doomed.

As we have previously covered, Serie A had a very exciting round, with the first two teams playing against each other, the Rome Derby and the Italy Derby as well. Spalletti’s Napoli showed no signs of stopping, as they beat Atalanta to create an even bigger gap at the top. Mourinho’s A.S. Roma lost at home against Lazio, while Juventus beat Inter. Other top team, Milan beat Spezia to move second.


Standings

Napoli have a 6 points lead against Milan, consolidating their first place before the World Cup break. Milan moved 2nd, Lazio moved 3rd, while Atalanta dropped down to 4th. Juventus, having won their last 4 games moved to 5th, within striking distance of UCL places. Verona are last, with 5 points, one more than Sampdoria and Cremonese, the master of draws.

Lens continued it’s decent run, as it beat Angers 2-1, away from home. Title favorites, PSG beat Lorient in a contested match to keep their momentum going. AS Monaco beat Toulouse, while Lille and Rennes drew, 1-1. In one of the highlights of the round, Marseille beat Lyon, to ease the pain of their UCL exit.


Standings

As for the Ligue 1 table, PSG still has a 5 points lead over Lens, who are in good form, winning their last 4 matches. From 2nd to 3rd, there is a 5 points gap, as Rennes are 3rd, one more point than the trio of Marseille, Monaco and Lorient. Angers are last, having lost their last 6 matches. Brest and Strasbourg are both on 10 points, 18th and 19th, while Ajaccio are also in trouble despite their win, with 11 points.
