The second full squad for Regional Dream Teams is here and it is extraordinary! Meet Dream Team: Africa, as voted by you, football fans!
The squad
Goalkeepers
Yassine Bounou | 31 | Sevilla(ESP) | Morocco |
Andre Onana | 26 | Inter(ITA) | Cameroon |
Édouard Mendy | 30 | Chelsea(ENG) | Senegal |
Probably the 3 most famous goalkeepers from Africa, we have Morocco’s World Cup star, Bounou, Inter’s Onana and Chelsea’s Mendy. A year ago it would have probably been Mendy with the most votes, however both Bounou and Andre Onana got more votes this time, than the Senegalese GK.
Defenders
Achraf Hakimi | 24 | PSG(FRA) | Morocco |
Noussair Mazraoui | 25 | Bayern(GER) | Morocco |
Edmond Tapsoba | 23 | Leverkusen(GER) | Burkina Faso |
Joel Matip | 31 | Liverpool(ENG) | Cameroon |
Nayef Aguerd | 26 | West Ham(ENG) | Morocco |
Khalid Koulibaly | 31 | Chelsea(ENG) | Senegal |
Abdou Diallo | 26 | RB Leipzig(GER) | Senegal |
Ramy Bensebaini | 27 | Gladbach(GER) | Algeria |
Reinildo | 29 | Atletico(ESP) | Mozambique |
Amazing selection for African defenders. For the right back spot, we have two from Morocco, in Hakimi and Mazraoui, they need no introduction. For the CB spots we have a selection of players from great teams, such as Koulibaly from Chelsea, Tapsoba from Leverkusen or Matip from Liverpool. For the left back spot we get Atletico’s Reinildo and Bensabaini from West Ham.
Midfielders
Thomas Partey | 29 | Arsenal(ENG) | Ghana |
Ibrahim Sangare | 25 | PSV(NED) | Ivory Coast |
Seko Fofana | 27 | Lens(FRA) | Ivory Coast |
Azzedine Ounahi | 22 | Marseille(FRA) | Morocco |
Sofyan Amrabat | 26 | Fiorentina(ITA) | Morocco |
Ellyes Skhiri | 27 | FC Koln(GER) | Tunisia |
The central midfielder position was a very stacked one for Africa, with lots of quality players. As expected, we get two players from Morocco in midfield as well in Ounahi and Amrabat. Ounahi actually got a transfer to Marseille in the January transfer window, while Amrabat was close to joining Barcelona. Also not surprising that we get big names such as Partey, Seko Fofana or in-form Skhiri in the top 6!
Attackers
Riyad Mahrez | 31 | Man City(ENG) | Algeria |
Mohamed Salah | 30 | Liverpool(ENG) | Egypt |
Sadio Mane | 30 | Bayern(GER) | Senegal |
Wilfried Zaha | 30 | Crystal Palace(ENG) | Ivory Coast |
Inaki Williams | 28 | Athletic(ESP) | Ghana |
Sebastien Haller | 28 | Dortmund(GER) | Ivory Coast |
Youssef En-Nesyri | 25 | Sevilla(ESP) | Morocco |
Victor Osimhen | 24 | Napoli(ITA) | Nigeria |
Lots of quality players in attack as well for Africa. On the right we have Mo Salah, Ryad Mahrez, on the left we have Sadio Mane and Wilfred Zaha. Same goes for the striker position, in which we have one of the most in-form players in Osimhen, Haller who just got back from cancer treatment and has been amazing for Dortmund and two great players from La Liga: Inaki Williams and En-Nesyri.
Starting 11

It was relatively simple to build a starting eleven for the dream team in Africa, we have basically went with the 11 players who got the most votes in their respective positions.
Bounou has been great at the World Cup, makes sense to have him in goal. The rest of the defense is also world class, Hakimi plays for PSG, Reinildo for Atletico, while the two central defenders are Koulibaly and Tapsoba.
From the abundance of midfield talent, we have Arsenal’s Partey, Fofana from Lens and World Cup star, Sofyan Amrabat. The subs are also not too shaby, we have in-form Skhiri, Sangare and Ounahi, Marseille’s new star midfielder.
Absolute world class players in attack as well. Napoli’s Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world right now and on the wings we have the old Liverpool partnership: Salah and Mane.
This is the second team for Regional Dream Teams. Who would you add to the squad? Who would make the starting 11 in your point of view?
