The 22nd matchday in Spain kicked off with Girona meeting Almeria in Catalonia. After a very exciting 90 minutes it was 6 – 2, the home side securing the 3 points. In the second match of the round, Real Sociedad met Celta Vigo, with the match ending 1 – 1, both teams getting a point each. In another highly anticipated match, we had Osasuna meeting reigning champs, Real Madrid. The final score was 0 – 2, Ancelotti’s men securing the three points.
Moving forward, we had another intriguing match, with Atletico Madrid meeting Athletic Club. The match ended 1 – 0, Atletico adding 3 more points to their tally. The leaders, FC Barcelona faced Cadizand after the final whistle it was 2 – 0, Barcelona securing the three points, to keep their 8 points lead over Madrid. To conclude the round, we had Getafe meeting Valencia. The match ended 1 – 0, Getafe grabbing the 3 points and moving further away from the relegation zone.

Xavi’s Barcelona are first in the league, maintaining their eight points lead over their arch rivals, Real Madrid. Real Sociedad are 3rd, a further 8 points behind, on 43 points. Atletico Madrid are 4th, on 41 points. Out of the top 4 we have Betis, Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao, in that order.
Elche are still last, yet to hit double digits and sit on 9 points. Valencia has fallen even more and are now 19th, with 20 points. The trio of Cadiz, Almeria and Getafe are 2 points in front of the bats, with 22 points. Sevilla are now 12th, out of the relegation zone, but far from European places.
