The Squad

Goalkeepers

Peter Gulacsi32RB Leipzig(GER)Hungary
Wojciech Szczesny32Juventus(ITA)Poland
Jan Oblak30Atletico(ESP)Slovenia

A very strong selection of goalkeepers, from three really strong leagues and teams. We have Gulacsi from Leipzig, Szczesny from Juventus and Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid. All above 30, experienced and very reliable.

Defenders

Adam Marusic30Lazio(ITA)Montenegro
Matty Cash25Aston Villa(ENG)Poland
David Alaba30Real Madrid(ESP)Austria
Josko Gvardiol21RB Leipzig(GER)Croatia
Willi Orban30RB Leipzig(GER)Hungary
Szalai Attila25Fenerbahce(TUR)Hungary
Milan Skriniar27Inter(ITA)Slovakia
Borna Sosa25Stuttgart(GER)Croatia
Oleksandr Zinchenko26Arsenal(ENG)Ukraine

England has so many quality right backs, that they have even started exporting them! Born in England, Matty Cash got the most amount of votes for the right back position. For the central back position, we have an absolute abundance of quality, including the world’s most expensive CB, Gvardiol, Real Madrid’s Alaba, Inter’s most wanted, Skriniar and two Hungarian internationals. For the left back position, we have Arsenal’s Zinchenko and Sosa.

Midfielders

Mateo Kovacic28Chelsea(ENG)Croatia
Luka Modric37Real Madrid(ESP)Croatia
Tomas Soucek27West Ham(ENG)Czechia
Piotr Zielinski28Napoli(ITA)Poland
Aleksandr Golovin26AS Monaco(FRA)Russia
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic27Lazio(ITA)Serbia

We have a world class midfield as well. Five times UCL winner, Luka Modric leads the pack and he is joined by fellow Croatian, Kovacic. We also have West Ham’s tank, Soucek, together with Napoli’s Zielinski and Monaco’s Golovin. To top things off, we have Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been one of the top midfielders in Serie A for a few seasons and he looks to be moving to a big club in the near future.

Forwards

Szoboszlai Dominik22RB Leipzig(GER)Hungary
Przemyslaw Frankowski27Lens(FRA)Poland
Mykhaylo Mudryk22Chelsea(ENG)Ukraine
Ivan Perisic33Tottenham(ENG)Croatia
Edin Dzeko36Inter(ITA)Bosnia
Robert Lewandowski34Barcelona(ESP)Poland
Dusan Vlahovic22Juventus(ITA)Serbia
Aleksandr Mitrovic28Fulham(ENG)Serbia

Our attack is a great combination of experience and young blood, with lots of amazing players. Szoboszlai got the most votes, in more than one category, Mudryk just signed an amazing contract with Chelsea, while Perisic has been amazing on the left for quite some time. Absolute brilliant goalscorers up top, we have Inter’s Dzeko, Bayern legend and Barca top scorer, Lewangoalski and two Serbians, Vlahovic and Mitrovic.

Starting 11

Truth to be told, in goal we could have had any of the 3 keepers, however there were times when Oblak was getting “best in the world” shouts, so we have decided to go with Atletico’s Slovenian GK. Szczesny and Gulacsi are both great options though.

In midfield we have decided to go for a diamond, with a strong CDM in Soucek, two absolutely amazing central midfielders in Modric and Milinkovic-Savic and a young Hungarian Szoboszlai as CAM. Szoboszlai was nominated for 3 different categories(CM, RW, LW) and he won all three of them, so we had to have him in the starting 11.

Yes, yes, we can already hear the Chelsea fans yelling out in agony over the exclusion of the second most expensive winter transfer, however it just felt right to have a striker partnership up front for a region that produced so much quality in this position over the years.

This is the 5th team for Regional Dream Teams. Who would you add to the squad? Who should make the starting 11? Should we use wingers?
