Dream Team: Central and North America

The fourth full squad for Regional Dream Teams is here and it is grand! Meet Dream Team: Central and North America, as voted by you, football fans and G:F followes!

Check out the Asia and Oceania dream team here.

The Squad

Goalkeepers

Keylor Navas36Nottingham(ENG)Costa Rica
Gabriel Slonina18Chelsea(ENG)USA
Matt Turner28Arsenal(ENG)USA

Three players from the Premier League, as the star keeper from the region, Keylor Navas moved away from PSG to Nottingham Forest.

Defenders

Alistair Johnston24Celtic(SCO)Canada
Sergino Dest22AC Milan(ITA)USA
Ethan Pinnock29Brentford(ENG)Jamaica
Cesar Montes25Espanyol(ESP)Mexico
Tim Ream35Fulham(ENG)USA
Chris Richards22Crystal Palace(ENG)USA
John Anthony Brooks29Benfica(POR)USA
Alphonso Davies22Bayern(GER)Canada
Junior Firpo26Leeds(ENG)Panama

Some decent options in defense for North America, as we get the best player from the region, Bayern’s Alphonso Davies. The other left back, Junior Firpo is also a good player and we have some decent player on the other flank too. The central defense area consists of lesser known players, however the players who got the most votes, Chris Richards and Cesar Montes could form a good partnership.

Midfielders

Stephen Eustaquio26Porto(POR)Canada
Edson Alvarez25Ajax(NED)Mexico
Giovanni Reyna20Dortmund(GER)USA
Yunus Musah20Valencia(ESP)USA
Tyler Adams23Leeds(ENG)USA
Weston McKennie24Leeds(ITA)USA

Same as in defense, we do get quite a few players from the United States, in midfield. All good players, the players with the most votes were McKenni, Adams and Edson Alvarez. The American might be pissed that their Leeds teammate, Aaronson did not make the team.

Christian Pulisic24Chelsea(ENG)USA
Hirving Lozano27Napoli(ITA)Mexico
Timothy Weah22Lille(FRA)USA
Leon Bailey25Aston Villa(ENG)Jamaica
Jonathan David23Lille(FRA)Canada
Michail Antonio32West Ham(ENG)Jamaica
Raul Jimenez31Wolves(ENG)Mexico
Josh Sargent22Norwich(ENG)USA

An interesting situation, as Chelsea winger, Christian Pulisic won the vote for both left and right winger. Generally our wingers are very versatile, as both Pulisic, Bailey and even Weah and Lozano can play on both flanks. For the striker position, Jonathan David is the standout player, however Raul Jimenez got a good chunk of the votes as well.

Starting 11

No question about the GK spot, former Real Madrid keeper, Navas is our first choice. The two American goallies will make good backups.

Probably some people expected Dest to be our starting right back, however he is having a very bad season, on loan at Milan. In the centre of the defense, we get the two players with the most votes: Montes and Richards from Palace. At left back, there is no question, it is Alphonso Davies!

In midfield, we have decided to go for 3 players, one CDM in Ajax’s Alvarez, while the Leeds and American duo of McKennie and Adams will play as central midfielders. More attacking options like Gio Reyna will make very good subs and can alter our midfield.

Up top, we also have 3 players. Pulisic on the left, with Napoli’s Lozano on the right. Our centre forward/striker is none other than Canadian prodigy, Jonathan Davies. The speed of Bailey or Weah might come in handy later on in matches.

This is the 4th team for Regional Dream Teams. Who would you add to the squad? Who should make the starting 11? Should we perhaps go for another formation, so our star man, Davies could play further up top?
