The Squad

Goalkeepers

Thibaut Courtois30Real Madrid(ESP)Belgium
Manuel Neuer36Bayern(GER)Germany
Gianluigi Donnarumma23PSG(FRA)Italy

Real Madrid’s number 1, considered by many to be the best keeper in the world, Thibaut Courtois got the most votes. Neuer and Donnarumma shared the rest of the votes, giving us an amazing trio in goal.

Defenders

Kieran Trippier32Newcastle(ENG)England
Reece James23Chelsea(ENG)England
Rafael Varane29Man Utd(ENG)France
Lucas Hernandez26Bayern(GER)France
Antonio Rüdiger29Real Madrid(ESP)Germany
Virgil Van Dijk31Liverpool(ENG)Netherlands
Jules Kounde24Barcelona(ESP)France
Theo Hernandez25Milan(ITA)France
Nuno Mendes20PSG(FRA)Portugal

The right back spot is monopolized by England, as both Kieran Trippier and Reece James makes it into the team. For the Centre back position, we have two more players from the Premier League, as Varane and Van Dijk make the team, together with some interesting picks in Bayern’s Lucas Hernandez, Real Madrid’s Rudiger and Barcelona’s Jules Kounde. On the other hand, we have two younger players on the left, as Nuno Mendes and Theo are included to the squad.

Midfielders

Kevin de Bruyne31Man City(ENG)Belgium
Jude Bellingham19Dortmund(GER)England
Aurelian Tchouameni22Real Madrid(ESP)France
Pedri20Barcelona(ESP)Spain
Toni Kroos33Real Madrid(ESP)Germany
Rodri26Man City(ENG)Spain

In midfield we have two Man City players(Kevin de Bruyne and Rodri), two Real Madrid players(Toni Kroos and Aurelian Tchouameni). Young superstars, Jude Bellingham from Dortmund and Pedri from Barcelona also makes the cut. A nice combination between young enthusiasm and experience to round up one of the best midfields in Regional Dream Teams.

Attackers

Bukayo Saka21Arsenal(ENG)England
Ousmane Dembele25FC Barcelona(ESP)France
Marcus Rashford25Man Utd(ENG)England
Kylian Mbappe24PSG(FRA)France
Rafael Leao23AC Milan(ITA)\Portugal
Karim Benzema35Real Madrid(ESP)France
Erling Haaland22Man City(ENG)Norway
Cristiano Ronaldo38Al Nassr(KSA)Portugal

OK Google, play Viva La Vida! Yep, 38 years old Cristiano Ronaldo makes it into the team. While we don’t think he is one of the best Western European strikers at the moment, he deserves being included for everything he has done in his career. He is joined by former Real Madrid team mate, Karim Benzema, young starlet, Erling Haaland and French superstar, Kylian Mbappe. On the wings we have Saka, Dembele, in-form Rashford and Rafael Leao. Good luck picking a starting 11 from this bunch!

Starting 11

Whilst our team might not resemble any sort of balance, sometimes you just have to go for the vibes, you know…

Tibo in goal, and a back four consisting of Kieran Trippier, Kounde, Virgil van Dijk and Theo Hernandez is very strong, a great balance of strength, experience, speed and technique. Great passing range as well.

In midfield we have decided to go for only two players in order to accomodate a big attack. We have young Bellingham and Kevin de Bruyne.

In attack, we have went with Saka on the right, as Arsenal’s winger can help out with the defense as well. On the other wing we have fellow Englishman, in-form Rashford. Our two strikers are two Frenchmen, Balon d’or winner Benzema and superstar, Kylian Mbappe.

This is the 6th and final team and for Regional Dream Teams. Who would you add to the squad? Who would make your starting 11?
