The first full squad for Regional Dream Teams is here and it is amazing! Meet Dream Team: South America, as voted by football fans!
The squad
Goalkeepers
Emiliano Martinez | 30 | Aston Villa(ENG) | Argentina |
Alisson Becker | 30 | Liverpool(ENG) | Brazil |
Ederson | 29 | Man City(ENG) | Brazil |
Not a lot of surprises in the goalkeeprs category, the 3 most famous South American goalkeepers, all got in. Alisson got the most votes, while Emi Martinez and Ederson were very close.
Defenders
Juan Cuadrado | 34 | Juventus(ITA) | Colombia |
Juan Foyth | 25 | Villareal(ESP) | Argentina |
Eder Militao | 25 | Real Madrid(ESP) | Brazil |
Lisandro Martinez | 25 | Man United(ENG) | Argentina |
Marquinhos | 28 | PSG(FRA) | Brazil |
Thiago Silva | 38 | Chelsea(ENG) | Brazil |
Ronald Araujo | 23 | Barcelona(ESP) | Uruguay |
Pervis Estupinan | 25 | Brighton(ENG) | Ecuador |
Marcos Acuna | 31 | Sevilla(ESP) | Argentina |
Four fullbacks, 5 central defenders, easy stuff! Or is it? We have a weird situation in which one player, Eder Militao got the most votes for two categories: right back and centre back as well. We have decided to count on Real’s defender as a CB, so added an extra 2 right backs. Cuadrado and Estupinan got a lot of votes, while the likes of Acuna and Lisandro barely made it. An interesting exclusion is World champions, Cristian Romero.
Midfielders
Enzo Fernandes | 22 | Benfica(POR) | Argentina |
Casemiro | 30 | Man United(ENG) | Brazil |
Bruno Guimaraes | 25 | Newcastle(ENG) | Brazil |
Moises Caicedo | 21 | Brighton(ENG) | Ecuador |
Fede Valverde | 24 | Real Madrid(ESP) | Uruguay |
Not a lot of surprises in midfield for South America. Fede Valverde and Enzo got the most votes and who could be surprised? Casemiro was 3rd in the voting, while Caicedo and Bruno Guimaraes barely beat the likes of De Paul, Fabinho(lol?) and Lucas Paqueta.
Attackers
Messi | 35 | PSG(FRA) | Argentina |
Rodrygo Goes | 22 | Real Madrid(ESP) | Brazil |
Vinicius Jr | 22 | Real Madrid(ESP) | Brazil |
Neymar | 30 | PSG(FRA) | Brazil |
Luis Diaz | 26 | Liverpool(ENG) | Colombia |
Julian Alvarez | 22 | Man City(ENG) | Argentina |
Lautaro Martinez | 25 | Inter(ITA) | Argentina |
Paulo Dybala | 29 | AS Roma(ITA) | Argentina |
Darwin Nunez | 23 | Liverpool(ENG) | Uruguay |
Too many attackers, you say? Well not when we have some of the top talents in world football in this category, like Neymar, Messi or Vinicius Junior. These 3 players got almost all the votes available, so we have decided to imitate Tite and have Neymar playing in a CAM role. A huge surprise is Dybala getting the most votes for the striker position. Brazil striker Richarlison did not even make it, while we have 3 players from Argentina for the same position: Dybala, Alvarez and Lautaro.
Starting 11

We have added the players who got the most votes to our starting 11, except a few minor changes. Let’s see…
As we have mentioned, Eder got the most votes for two positions, however Cuadrado got more than every CB on the list, so we have decided to add both. Cuadrado RB, Eder CB. Barcelona’s Araujo also beat out the likes of Marquinho and Thiago Silve, thus starting next to Militao. For LB we have Ecuadorian Estupinan in the starting 11.
We have decided to go for 2 Central Mids, the players who got the most votes: Valverde and Enzo. Right in front of them, we have 3 players, which probably do not surprise anyone: Neymar as CAM, Vini on the left, and World champion Leo Messi on the right.
Even though Dybala got the most votes for the striker position, we have decided that a Dybala – Messi partnership will not work, as Paolo is too similar to both Leo and Neymar, so we have went for a more conventional striker in Lautaro Martinez.
This is the first team for Regional Dream Teams, we hope you enjoyed the process and the final team. Who would you add to the squad? Who would make the starting 11 in your point of view?
