Inter 2023/24 – Team Analysis

Inter managed to reach the UCL final last season and they put up a great fight against Man City. Even though some key players left, Simone Inzaghi is building a great team, capable of challenging both the Serie A and the Champions League. They have also beat their eterna rivals, Milan 5-1 in the weekend.

The main transfer for Inter is none other than former Bayern defender, Benjamin Pavard. The Frenchman, who can play either right back or centre back, will probably play an important role in Inter’s season, but he is yet to find his footing. Sommer came in from Bayern to replace Onana. A lot of free transfers as well, the most notable one is forward, Marcus Thuram.

Note, Asllani and Acerbi were both part of Inter’s squad last season as well.

Lots of departures. The big one is obviously Andre Onana who went to Man Utd for more than 50 million. Brozovic joined Ronaldo at Al Nassr, while Gosens went back to Germany. A big blow to the team is defender, Milan Skriniar leaving on a free to join PSG.

All in all, a nice squad, built specifically for Simone Inzaghi’s system. We have 5 great CBs in de Vrij, Acerbi, Pavard, Darmian and Bastoni. For the wide wingback/midfielder position alongside Dimarco and Dumfries, now we also have Cuadrado.

The midfield also has decent options, along the starting trio will also have Asllani, Frattesi, Stefano Sensi and new arrival: Klaasen.

The attack also has lots of options, next to Lautaro Martinez and Thuram, Inzaghi can also use Alexis Sanchez and Arnautovic. Lots of experience!

Possible Starting 11

Sommer is most probably number 1 for the season. Pavard, given the fact he is the biggest signing of the team this summer will most probably find his way into the team, however for now Darmian, Acerbi and Bastoni are playing well, including in the beating of Milan. De Vrij is also an option for CCB.

In midfield, things are looking clear. Dumfries will play RWB/MF, while Dimarco will occupy the left wing. Mkhitaryan, Calhanoglu and Barella are amazing players, they will start in the centre. The attacking duo in the standard formation is Thuram and Lautaro, however don’t disregard the veterans!
