The round started with Monaco winning yet again, this time beating Stade Brestois. Despite last round’s win, Lyon failed to find any kind of consistency, as they lost at home to Clermont Foot. The shock of the round came in Lens, as RC Lens beat PSG, 3 to 1. The home side took the lead in the 5th minute and despite Hugo Etike equalizing relatively quickly, they kept on pushing and eventually won the match. Note, PSG played without both Messi and Neymar. This puts Lens only 4 points behind Paris and means there are no more unbeaten teams in the top 5 leagues in Europe. Marseille and Rennes both won their games, so they complete the top 4.

Despite the setback, PSG are still confident in their lead, as they are 4 points aboive Lens and the fact this was their first loss of the season shows that it is almost mission impossible to dethrone them. Lens, Marseille and Rennes complete the top 4, but Monaco are close.

Angers are last, with 8 points from 17 games, 3 less than Strasbourg. Auxerre and Brest are both on 13.

Team of the Week

As expected, Lens’ Openda leads the attack, partnered with Diallo from Strasbourg. The highest Sofascore rating of the round belons to Benjamin Bourigeaud, Rennes’ right winger who provided a goal for his team. Nantes’ clean sheet is rewarded by Lafont being in goal, while Castelletto being one of the Centre Backs.
