Top transfers of the week: 15.08 – 21.08.2022

With Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro joining ManUtd and leaving a gap left to be filled in Real Madrid’s midfield, with Nottingham Forest strenghtening their midfield with a young English midfielder and Wolves managing to snap another Portugese prodigy up, quite a lot happened this week!

In this article we are going to take a look at the top player transfers from the last week.

Casemiro

30 years old – Central Defensive Midfielder

From Real Madrid to ManUtd for €70mil

The biggest transfer of the week and one of the top transfers of this year’s summer mercato, Casemiro shocked everyone by agreeing a move to Premier League strugglers, ManUtd. The English club needed a #6 for quite some time, remains to be seen whether this transfer is enough to bring them back to the top half of the Prem.

Matheus Nunes

23 years old – Central Midfielder

From Sporting CP to Wolves – €45mil

Now, this one’s a WOW transfer in the eyes of Generation:Football. Not only because of the hetfy price tag, but also because Matheus Nunes was one of the most sought after midfielders this summer, with interest from bigger teams such as Liverpool and Manutd. Also worth noting that Nunes is joining 10 other Portuguese players at Wolverhampton.

Morgan Gibbs-White

22 years old – Central Attacking Midfielder

From Wolves to Nottingham Forest for €30mil + €20mil addons

Young English midfielder, Gibbs-White is definitely a want to watch for the future, but many believe that Forest are overpaying for the former Wolves player, especially considering he spent last season on loan in the Championship at Sheffield United. Time will tell.

Giacomo Raspadori

22 years old – Striker

From Sassuolo to SSC Napoli – Loan fee 5mil + €25mil

Napoli are having a very underrated transfer period so far. They did release Insigne and Mertens on a free, sell Koulibaly for almost €40mil, but spent about two times as much on arrivals. Alongside the talented Italian forward, they bought Anguissa(after his loan expired), Min-jae Kim, Mathias Oliveira, but also Ndombele from Spurs, on loan.

Pervis Estupinan

24 years old – Left Back

From Villareal to Brighton for €18mil

It was all about the Premier League this week, as Brighton strenghtened their defense with the young Ecuadorian Left Back. Worth noting that defender used to belong to Watford, but never actually played for The Hornets.

Destiny Udogie

19 years old – Left Back

From Udinese to Tottenham for €18mil – Loaned back to Udinese

Another Left Back being bought by a Premier League side for 18mil, however the Italian LB will have to wait at least a year before joining up with Conte, as he was loaned back to Udinese. Definitely one for the future.

Tanguy Nianzou

20 years old – Centre Back

From Bayern Munich to Sevilla FC for €16mil

After the purchase of De Ligt, it was starting to get clear that Bayern has an abundance of Centre Backs and Nianzou would find it hard to get any game time at the Bavarian club. The situation is different at Sevilla though, where the Andalusian side sold 2 of their starter CBs in Kounde and Diego Carlos.

Cesare Casadei

19 years old – Central Midfielder

From Inter to Chelsea for €15mil

Talented Italian youth international, Casadei was touted to be the “next Frank Lampard” and even though these comparisons bring more harm than good in most cases, it’s clear to see where the hype comes from. One to look out for.

Mohamed Camara

22 years old – Central Defensive Midfielder

From RB Salzburg to AS Monaco for €15.00m

With the Tchouameni money coming in hot, it was just a matter of time before Monaco dive into the market for a new CDM. Although the two players differ in style, Tchou being massive, while Camara relies mostly on his speed, 15mil seems like a bargain for the Malian midfielder.

Sergio Gomez

21 years old – Left Back

From Anderlect to Manchester City for €13mil

Didn’t take much for Pep Guardiola’s side to find their man, after losing out on Cucurella. The young Spanish left back is a product of La Masia, but he was part of Dortmund before joining the Belgian side.

Thilo Kehrer

25 years old – Centre Back

From PSG to West Ham for €12mil

With rumours of PSG looking for one or maybe two new Centre Backs, Thilo Kehrer’s Parisian adventure comes to an end. The German player spent 4 years in Paris, but will be happy to be joining West Ham, where he will be able to play a more significant role.
