Costa Rica: B. Aguilera 65′, J. Bennette 65′, Y. Salas 89′, D. Chacon 90′

We have seen a very poor first half, no shots on target by either teams. Things changed in the second half, but it was Japan who took initiative, even having a few chances. It was Costa Rica who scored though, in the 81st minute. This means both Japan and Costa Rica are on 3 points. Spain versus Germany later tonight, in the same group.

Belgium0Morocco2
Group F
A. Sabiri 73′
Z. Aboukhlal 90′

Subs
Belgium: D. Mertens 60′, Y. Tielemans 60′, C. De Ketelaere 75′, L. Trossard 75′, R. Lukaku 81′
Morocco: A. Sabiri 68′, Y. Attiat-Allal 68′, Z. Aboukhlal 73′, A. Hamdallah 73′, J. El Yamiq 78′

Belgium are not playing good football this tournament and as per Kevin de Bruyne, they are too old to stand a chance. Even though the Europeans managed to beat Canada in the first game, they did not impress. Their problems became even worse today against Morocco, as they got beaten by their African rivals. It was quite an even match, for example both teams had 10 shots each, however Morocco had more quality chances. No team is through from Group F yet, Morocco on 4 points, Belgium on 3.

Croatia4Canada1
Group F
A. Kramaric 36′, 70′
M. Livaja 44′
L. Majer 90′
A. Davies 2′

Subs
Croatia: B. Petkovic 60′, N. Vlasic 72′, M. Orsic 86′, M. Pasalic 86′, L. Majer 86′
Canada: J. Osorio 46′, I. Kone 46′, J. Hoilett 62′, L. Cavallini 72′, S. Adekugbe 72′

Canada opened the scoring early on thanks to an Alphonso Davies header, however Croatia had all the answers tonight. The Europeans played a very good game and they even managed to take the lead before the half time whistle. Their domination continued into the second half, as Canada couldn’t replicate their good performance against Belgium. With an xG of 2.6 versus less than 0.5, it is clear that Croatia were the better side. Canada are out, Croatia are not through yet, they face Belgium in the last game.

Spain1Germany1
Group E
A. Morata 62′N. Fullkrug 83′

Subs
Spain: A. Morata 54′, Koke 66′, N. Williams 66′, A. Balde 82′,
Germany: L. Sane 70′, N. Fullkrug 70′, L. Klostermann 70′, J. Hofmann 85′, N. Schlotterbeck 87′

Spain were the slightly better team in the first half, despite Germany scoring, but the goal being disallowed. Luis Enrique’s team played their usual style of play, with countless passes and not a lot of shots. Spain broke the deadlock after a Morata goal, from a Jordi Alba assist. Germany however kept on pressing and they ultimately managed to equalize(Fullkrug goal) and had more chances overall, being close to winning on a few occasion. Spain finished the match with an xG of 0.57, while Germany had 1.1. Germany have only one point from 2 matches, but they can still go through.
