Spain are out of the World Cup! Morocco won the penalty shootout, with Spain missing all 3 of it’s penalties! Hakimi finished them off with a panenka to celebrate Morocco reaching the Quarter Finals for the first time in it’s history! Not a lot to discuss about statistics, both teams finished the game with less than 1 xG.

Despite Spain dominating possession, as they always do, Morocco were the better side in the first half. They had the better chances. This changed a bit in the second half and throughout extra time, as Spain pushed more and more, however Morocco, led from the middle by a brilliant Sofyan Amrabat, offered only a few chances to Luis Enrique’s men and were generally very disciplined tactically.

Spain are out! Morocco to face either Portugal or Switzerland in the Quarter FInals.
