Games to Watch over the weekend – 28.10

Hello and welcome to another entry in our Games to Watch over the weekend series! Truth to be told, it was harder to find games for this weekend, it seems most big teams have an easier weekend, going into the final European matchday and the World Cup in a few weeks. Find the selection below!

Premier League

29/10/2216:00 CETBrighton vs Chelsea
Potter and the European places

As you know, Graham Potter left Brighton and joined Chelsea a couple of weeks ago and honestly, Brighton hasn’t been the same since then. They accumulated only 2 points from the last 5 games. Initially Chelsea were doing very good, however they only managed two draws in the last two games, against Brentford and ManUtd. Realistically, Chelsea are clear favorites, however Brighton’s players were most definitely going to be motivated, facing their old boss.

La Liga

30/10/2221:00 CETReal Sociedad vs Betis

Picking the match from La Liga was most definitely the easiest. Two teams from the top 5, both with Champions League ambitions. Real Sociedad are 4th, Betis are 5th, only 2 points between them. Weirdly, both teams lost their last games, so the motivation to get back to winning ways will be strong for both, especially considering both Athletic Bilbao and Villareal are lurking just behind.

Bundesliga

29/10/2218:30 CETE. Frankfurt vs Dortmund

4th and 5th facing each other in the Bundesliga as well! Frankfurt are currently 4th, having done an excellent job in balancing Bundesliga with a decent Champions League run. Dortmund are 5th, having a lot of ups and downs this season. The Bundesliga seems to be very competitive this year, both of these teams being able to jump to the top 3 if they win.

Serie A

29/10/2216:00 CETNapoli vs Sassuolo

It wasn’t easy to pick a match from the Italian league, for the same reason we’ve mentioned in the introduction for this article, so we have decided to go with the safest option: SSC Napoli’s match! Spalletti’s men seem to be one of the best sides in Europe at the moment and their attack is in phenomenal form, with Raspadori, Kvara and Simeone all having breakout seasons. Sassuolo are also doing decent, they are currently 9th in Serie A.

Ligue 1

30/10/2220:45 CETLyon vs Lille
The L Derby

As we have already mentioned, Lyon had a great start of the season, but then they suddenly faded away. They did manage to win their last game, which puts them 8th, an improvement, but not where they want to finish. On the other hand, Lille are in a good form, having won 4 out of their last 5 games and they currently sit 6th. Although not a match to influence the leaders in Ligue 1, we can expect a very good game.
