The Premier League round started with a huge surprise, as big spending, but underperforming Nottingham Forest, beat Liverpool 1-0. This result, together with Leeds(2-3 vs Fulham) and Wolves(0-4 vs Leicester) losing makes the relegation zone very condensed. Manchester City beat Brighton and thanks to Arsenal drawing against Southampton helps Pep’s side get closer to first placed. The highlight of the round, Chelsea versus Man Utd ended with a 1-1 draw. Newcastle beat Tottenham in London, with Antonio Conte’s side 2nd defeat in the last 2 game.

Standings

The Citizens are just two points off Arsenal now and we have ourselves a proper title race, at least until Arsenal can keep their good form. Tottenham are still 3rd, despite their recent losses, however they, together with Newcastle have played an extra game, compared to the first 2 and 5th Chelsea and 6th Man Utd. Bottom 3 teams, Leeds, Wolves and Forest are on 9 points, only 2 less than West Ham and Leicester. Very interesting race for staying up.

Rayo opened the round with a convincing 5-1 victory over strugglers, Cadiz. After winning their last 5 games, Real Sociedad finally lost to 11th Valladolid, only for Mallora to beat Valencia as well. One of the derbies of the round, Real Madrid vs Sevilla finished with a 3-1 Madrid win, with Fede Valverde scoring another banger. Atletico Madrid beat Betis in a hard fought match, while the highlight of the round, Barcelona versus Athetlic Bilbao, ended with a clear Catalan win, 4-0. Celta versus Getafe to be played today, 24th of October.

Standings

Real Madrid are still first, 3 points in front of Barcelona. With La Real losing, Atletico seems to be the frontrunner for the 3rd placed. Betis, Bilbao and Villareal are all close to the top 4, however their form is all questionable. At the bottom of the table, Elche are last with 4 points, behind Cadiz(7) and Getafe(9). An eventual Getafe win against Celta on Monday could switch things around though.

Even though they are in a good form in the UCL, something is just not clicking for RB Leipzig in the BuLi, as they drew once more, 3-3 versus Augsburg.

Union are still first, however the difference is only one point to 2nd placed Bayern Munchen. Freiburg are back to winning ways and they are 3rd, with 21 points. Schalke 04 are dead last and things are not looking good for them, with 5 losses in a row. Bochum are 17th on 7 points, while Stuttgart are 16th, one point in front of Leverkusen.
