Joga Bonito in the Prem – Brazilian footballers joining the Premier League

With Anthony to Manchester United close to being official, and Willian possibly joining Fulham, we are going to take a look at all the Brazilian footballers who transferred to the Premier League this summer. From Casemiro to Neto, they are all here!

You can find the list below!

Marquinhos

19BrazilRight WingerArsenalBrazil  São Paulo€3.50m

Renown for his pace and technique, Arsenal’s Marquinhos is hard to compare to PSG’s Centre Back with the same name. He is a left footed Right winger, which is a position which is in great demand across Europe. The 19 years old will surely offer a great rotational option for Arteta’s squad, challenging for the Champions League spots.

Diego Carlos

29Brazil
Spain
Centre-BackAston VillaSpain  Sevilla FC€31.00m

Diego Carlos, an estabilished former FC Sevilla Centre Back is a top signing for Villa. He has lots of experience and formed a great partnership with Jules Kounde, who also moved on from Andalusia. Unfortunately for Carlos, he ruptured his achilles tendon on his debut. This saw him requiring surgery and he will be out for about half a year. West Ham will surely miss the Brazilian, especially considering their early struggles.

Neto

Italy
GoalkeeperBournemouthSpain  Barcelonafree transfer

Although yet to make his debut for his new team, Neto will bring a lot of experience to the Premier League. He has played for Fiorentina, Juventus, Valencia and Barcelona. Nice pub quiz question that. He comes on a free, after being Mark-Andre Ter Stegen’s reserve for 3 years at the Camp Nou. Neto is another Brazilian footballer who adds their army in the Premier League.

Casemiro

30Brazil
Spain
Defensive MidfieldManUtdSpain  Real Madrid€70.65m

We have talked and talked and talked about Casemiro, so what more can we say? He has already made his debut in the weekend against Southampton, but the Old Trafford faithful will surely expect much more from him than his 10 minute cameo. A Casemiro – Eriksen – Bruno midfield trio in the making, or are ManUtd going to spend more in the next few days?

Renan Lodi

24Brazil
Italy
Left-BackNottingham ForestSpain  Atlético MadridLoan fee:
€5.00m

Even though we have reviewed Forest’s transfers in the past, this one came as a surprise. Lodi has been a relatively important figure for Simeone’s Atletico in the last 3 years, even being worth as much as 50mil at one point. He can operate as a Left Back, or higher up the pitch in a 3 CB system.

Lucas Paquetá

25Brazil
Portugal
Attacking MidfieldWest HamFrance  Olympique Lyon€42.95m

Speaking of surprises… Highly rated Brazilian CAM is most definitely going to have a big impact in the Premier League. Talented and flashy, Paqueta was touted to join one of the European elite clubs, but seems no one would match West Ham’s 40mil+ offer. He can operate as a Central Midfielder, as a Forward, but his best position is most definitely the #10 role.

Special mention to Coutinho and Bruno Guimaraes who joined in the winter and had instant impacts.
