Unfortunately only 7 out of 10 matches were played and the big one, Chelsea versus Liverpool was also postponed. We did see some of the title hopefuls in action though, as City beat Wolves 3-0 at the Molineux(with Haaland scoring another goal), while Spurs obliterated Leicester, 6-2, with a hat-trick from substitute, Son. It’s looking very grim for the Foxes. Arsenal also beat Brentford to maintain their top spot, while Lampard’s Everton managed to down fellow strugglers, West Ham United.

Standings

Arsenal are still first and they will remain there, regardles of the result of the postponed games. Both City and Spurs stand undefeated, they are 2nd and 3rd. European places will remain contested, remains to be seen whether Brighton can continue their impressive form, with Potter gone. Watch out for Fulham, who are currently 6th. I am sure not a lot would have imagined that Leicester, high spending Forest, West Ham and Wolves will be the bottom 4, but here we are. Tough task for everyone to stay up.

Barcelona continue their win streak, as they beat Elche 3-0, with another brace from the brilliant Lewandowski. Gattuso’s Valencia enjoyed a productive weekend, as they down Celta, 3-0. Two teams who are looking impressive at the moment, Betis and Athletic Bilbao, both won their games to keep the pressure up on the top 2. Emery and the Yellow Submarine drew against Sevilla, to give Lopetegui a chance to see another day. The highlight of the round was undoubtedly El Derbi Madrileño, as the whole world was keeping an eye on the aftermath of last week’s happenings. Real Madrid won the game, with goals from Rodrygo and Valverde. Atletico’s substitute, Hermoso scored a goal, than was shown a red card in the 91st minute.

Standings

Real Madrid are still the only team in the top 5 European leagues with a 100% record, as they go into the international break with 18 points out of 6 games. Barcelona are close by, with 16 points and a goal difference of 18:1. Betis and Bilbao are currently 3rd and 4th, however Osasuna, Villareal, Atletico and Real Sociedad are all within striking distance. Elche are looking lost, with just one point, 2 less than Cadiz. Sevilla are still in trouble, with only 5 points from 6 games.

Is this the season in which we are going to see a proper title race in the Bundesliga? It sure seems like it, as Bayern Munchen lost points again, this time losing the match against Augsburg. Nagelsmann’s boys have 0 wins in the last 4 games. The Revierderby, Dortmund versus Schalke, ended with Borussia winning 1-0, however Reus had to be taken off injured. Different manager, same Leipzig, as they’ve lost to Gladbach, while Leverkusen are still struggling, this time getting a point against Werder Bremen. Union Berlin are going strong, they’ve beaten Wolfsburg, 2-0.

Standings

Surprisingly, Union Berlin are first. Urs Fischer’s team are still unbeaten, winning 5 and drawing 2 games so far. Dortmund are exactly where everyone expected them to be, in second place. Bayern are currently 5th, 5 points off first place, they will have their work cut out for them. Bochum finally got their first point, a 1-1 against Koln, but they are still dead last. Leverkusen and Leipzig are still having a rough time, as they are both in the bottom half.

As we’ve said on Twitter, the last time Juventus, Inter, Milan and Roma lost on the same matchday was in 1955. Even though Inter(vs 3rd placed Udinese), Milan(vs 1st placed Napoli) and Roma(vs 2nd placed Atalanta) faced tough opposition, the same cannot be said about Juve, who have lost to previously last placed Monza. There are already reports suggesting Allegri might be sacked soon.

Standings

With getting their first win of the season, Monza handed the mantle of the last placed team over to Sampdoria, however Cremonese are also on 2 points. On the top half of the table, Spalletti’s Napoli are first, followed by Atalanta. Surprise package Udinese are still flying high, occupying 3rd place and having won their last 5 games. Lazio, Milan, Roma and Inter are following them closesly. Juve are 8, same number of points as their local rivals, Torino.

After losing their UCL fixture against Frankfurt, Marseille lost points in Ligue 1 as well, as they’ve only managed a 1-1 against Stade Rennais at home. Lille, Lorient and Monaco all won their games, tightening the race for UCL places. Lyon’s horrible run continues, this time they’ve lost against leaders, PSG. Messi was on the scoresheet, as Galtier’s men could have won by a bigger margin as well. Ajaccio finally put themselves on the table, as they’ve beaten Brestois.

Standings

As OM stumbles, PSG are now sole leaders and there is not a lot to suggest that they will stop dominating the league, as they have a goal difference of 26:4. Lorient are having an amazing start of the season, as they are 3rd, followed by Lens, with one less point. Monaco are 5th, while Lyon, who had a good start of the campaign are now only 6th, having lost their last 3 games. Ajaccio are last, however Brest, Strasbourg and Reims are all in relegation zone. Auxerre is just above the line on 7 points.
