Games to Watch over the weekend – Week 4, 2023

The Premier League is taking a back seat in the weekend, however we do have some damn good football across Europe, including in England. Let’s see the matches we have hand-picked for the 4th weekend in 2023!

Manchester City – Arsenal

27.01.2023, 21:00 CET – Norwegians in the FA Cup

Normally we only cover league games in this series, however we have decided to change things up a bit, for this excellent looking FA Cup fixture. Manchester City hosts Arsenal in the FA Cup, it’s another battle between master and apprentice, Pep Guardiola versus Mikel Arteta!

Arsenal has the advantage in the league and they’ve just beaten Man United, while City has been looking rather shaky at times, however cup competitions are a different breed. Haaland also scored a hat-trick last round, given the chance he will try to add to his impressive goal tally. We believe it will be a contested match and both teams will looking to get one up on the other, a great fixture in Round 4 of the FA Cup.

Bayern Munchen – Eintracht Frankfurt

28.01.2023, 18:30 CET – Battle for the top 4 spots

First placed team goes up against the 4th and there are only 5 points between the two. Bayern got only two points in the last two matches, while Frankfurt is on 4, having drawn against in-form Freiburg in the last round.

With the likes of Kolo Muani and Kamada being in excellent form, while Bayern not hitting their peak yet, this could turn out to be a great match and one that practically relaunches the race for the title.

Honorable mention to Bayer Leverkusen versus Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.

Real Madrid – Real Sociedad

29.01.2023, 21:00 CET – Real Madrid against La Real

These two teams have a few things in common, including losing to Barcelona in cup competitions this year. While the Catalans beat Real Madrid in the Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia, La Real lost to them in the Spanish Cup earlier this week in a contested match, 1-0.

Real Sociedad are in excellent form in the league though, having won their last 5 games and they are currently sitting 3rd on the table. It will by no means be an easy game for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, despite Madrid beating Atletico in the Spanish Cup. With a victory, Sociedad could get on level of points with Real Madrid, albeit with one more game played.

Napoli – AS Roma

29.01.2023, 20:45 CET – Spalletti versus Mourinho

Serie A has been very entertaining this season and it’s in large part due to this two teams and two gentlemen, Luciano Spalletti and Jose Mourinho. It’s the first placed team facing the 4th placed team and things will surely get heated!

Napoli are first, beating teams left and right, including Juventus and having a great chance at the Scudetto, while AS Roma are also in excellent shape, winning 3 out of the last 4 games and Paolo Dybala being in excellent form. A possible AS Roma win would give a chance to AC Milan and a pack of other teams, including Roma, to close the gap a bit on Napoli
