Top players in the top 5 leagues based on G/A – March 2023

The end of the international break is upon us and we thought it would be the perfect time to bring this series back: let’s see the players with the most goals and assists from the top five leagues!


Premier League

Probably comes as a surprise to exactly no one, Erling Haaland is the Premier League’s top scorer to this date. One of the top transfers of last summer, already scored 28 goals, being on course to break every record there is. Even though Man City is only 2nd on the table, there are probably not a lot of people who can be upset about the Norwegian’s output. Kane is second, followed by Toney, but we also have a resurgent Rashford in the top 5.

With a top scorer, there also comes a top assister. Man City’s KDB is first in this category, with 12 assists. He is followed by the Arsenal duo of Bukayo Saka and Trossard, even though the Belgian had most of his assists for Brighton. Salah and Eriksen complete the top 5, with Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes just outside the top 5.


La Liga

Robert Lewandowski is first, which is not surprising, however Benzema is not in the top 5, which is. Barcelona ST, Lewy is on 15 goals, two more than relegation candidates’ Striker, Enes Unal. Celta Vigo’s eternal forward, Iago Aspas is on 12, same number as Joselu and Betis’ Borja Iglesias.

Griezmann is back at Atletico and he is having a great season. Apart from some clutch goals, he is also La Liga’s assist king, with 8 assist. La Real’s midfielder, Mikel Merino is second, while we have a whole bunch of players on 5, including Lewandowski and Dembele from Barcelona and Rodrygo from Real Madrid.

As expected, Napoli is dominating the statistics, just like they are dominating the league standings. Napoli striker, Viktor Osimhen is first with a decent 21 goals. He is followed by Inter’s Lautaro Martinez. Back to Napoli, Kvaratskhelia is 3rd with 12 goals. We also have Lookman and Nzola on 12, so the battle for the podium might be a fierce one.

The same Kvara is leading the assists chart, with 10 assists. Lazio’s long-serving central midfielder, Milinkovic-Savic is second, 8 assists, same as fellow Serbian, Filip Kostic of Juventus. To keep the Eastern European theme alive, Zielinski is 4th, on 7 assists. Dybala is 5th.

Interestingly the top scorers in both La Liga and the Premier League used to play in the Bundesliga last season. We are not sure whether this season’s top scorers will also move abroad or not, however Fullkrug managed to gather a respectable 15 goals. Gladbach’s Thuram is 2nd, while Leipzig’s Nkunku is 3rd, despite missing quite a lot of games due to injuries.

Kolo Muani leads the assists charts, while also having scored 11 goals. Maybe it’s Frankfurt’s attacker, who is next to catch a big move abroad? He is followed by Dortmund’s attacking fullback, Guerreiro. After the first two, we have Musiala, Hofmann and Szoboszlai, all on 8 assists.

Unsurprisingly, Kylian Mbappe leads the scoring charts, however a bit more surprisingly, Lille’s Canadian attacker, Jonathan David is on the same amount of goals. We also have a trio of players with 2 less goals, in Lacazette, Ben Yedder and Arsenal loanee, Balogun.
