Games to Watch over the weekend – Week 13, 2023

The international break is finally over and we have a bunch of exciting matches over the weekend in the top 5 leagues. It’s week 13 and let’s go through our picks, for games to watch over the weekend!

Bayern Munchen – Borussia Dortmund

01.04.2023, 18:30 CET – Tuchel’s debut

Huge, huge match in Germany! Dortmund are now first, having a genuine chance at winning the Bundesliga after so many years. It is also Thomas Tuchel’s debut game at Bayern, 6 years after leaving Dortmund and having found success at PSG and Chelsea.

Given previous encounters, Bayern are favorites, however Edin Terzic’s side has been looking lovely in the league and there is a certain feeling in Germany that this might actually be Dortmund’s year. Still, the Allianz Arena is a tough stadium, Bayern are all but favorites.

Manchester City – Liverpool

01.04.2023, 13:30 CET – Is it the Pep and Klopp era?

Almost any other season in the last 5 years and this match could have been a title decider, however not this time. City are second, with a chance at the title, however Klopp’s Liverpool are all the way at 6th.

While the Reds will definitely put up a fight for top 4, this season it seems City are way better, in the league and in Europe as well. Given the fact is being played in Manchester, Pep’s side are clear favorites.

Newcastle United – Manchester United

01.05.2023, 17:30 CET – Podium contenders

Newcastle have emerged as one of the favorites to grab a UCL spot in the Prem, as they are 5th, however with 2 games in hand compared to 4th placed Tottenham. Manchester United are 3rd, with only 3 points above Newcastle.

Both teams are in decent form, there are no clear favorites for this game. Both teams have been solid defensively, however Man United probably still hasn’t forgotten the 7 goals they have conceded from Liverpool, so we can expect them to be a more conservative. No clear favorites.

Atletico Madrid – Real Betis

01.05.2023, 21:00 CET – Battle for Europe

Even though the race for the Spanish La Liga title is as good as over, there is still a lot to play for. Atletico are currently 3rd, Real Sociedad are 4th, with only 3 points above Real Betis. A potential team by Pellegrini’s team could bolster their chances of grabbing a UCL spot.

Griezmann and co have been in good form recently, having won 4 out of their last 5 games. Same goes for Betis though, one less win, but generally good performances. With that being said, Simeone’s side are favorites, especially considering the game is being played at the Metropolitano.

Napoli – Milan

01.05.2023, 20:45 CET – Training for the UCL

Napoli, dominating Serie A this season, are as good as champions, however there is still a lot of pride to play for in the league. To add fuel to fire, these two Italian giants have been drawn together in the UCL as well!

As mentioned, Spalletti’s side will find it hard to lose the championship, which in theory could give an edge to Milan, who are in the race for UCL spots. With that being said, it’s unlikely that Napoli will want to give up points, this time they want to make sure they get the title they want so much.
